Knowledge & Culinary Competition a Smashing Success: Area High School Headed for North Carolina
Lincoln, NE - The Nebraska Restaurant Association Hospitality Educational Foundation is proud to announce the winners of the 5th Annual Nebraska ProStart Foodservice Management Competition. This high school knowledge and culinary competition was held at Southeast Community College–Lincoln on March 31 and April 1, 2006.
The overall state champion team, which scored the highest in both management and culinary was Papillion LaVista Team A-mazing. Papillion LaVista will be traveling to Charlotte, NC on April 29, 2006 to represent Nebraska at the National ProStart Student Invitational (NPSI). National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation will host NPSI at the Westin Conference Center. Brewsky’s Restaurant was the Papillion LaVista sponsor. Congratulations to Papillion LaVista State Champions and Brewsky’s sponsoring a winning. Second place overall was the Plattsmouth team, and in third place overall was the Milford Culinary Cuties team.

The Nebraska Restaurant Association Hospitality Educational Foundation ProStart program is the premier School-to-Career program that introduces high school juniors and seniors to careers in the hospitality industry and teaches basic management and kitchen skills needed for success. ProStart encourages high school students to experience all aspect of operating and managing a food service/hospitality establishment, and also helps students build good business and management skills. On the job training and experience, coupled with a dynamic and comprehensive curriculum, fuel the ProStart Program.
